September 26-27, 2015
The owners of Noon Whistle Pottery, Holly Horan and John Pluta, are working with the County to hold the first annual Virginia Clay Festival in Stanardsville on the weekend of September 26 and 27. The organizers promote the event by emphasizing that it will be an art show that celebrates the creative possibilities of clay. The Town will be host to a gathering of potters, sculptors and jewelers selling their latest work — all in clay!
The festival will feature pottery demonstrations throughout the day, as each artist gives a demo of a technique explaining what makes their work unique. There will also be a Raku firing and demonstration, old time and traditional Irish music, and a children’s area to play with clay. And there will be plenty of artisan foods available.
All are encouraged to come and meet the artists, learn about what they do and help support local craftspeople.
