September 18 & 19
The 5th annual Virginia Clay Festival is scheduled for the weekend of September 18 & 19, in Stanardsville at William Monroe Middle School. The popular art show, celebrating the creative possibilities of clay, will bring in at least 35 artists (potters, sculptors, jewelers) from across the state to display their work in the exhibit hall. Some will demonstrate tricks of their trade in three demonstration areas, including a raku firing. There will also be live musical entertainment with Irish and Old Time bands. Food and beverages will be available. The annual event is sponsored by Noon Whistle Pottery, County Economic Development & Tourism, Art Guild of Greene, Blue Ridge Pottery and others.
