Town Council for the Town of Stanardsville, Virginia, intends to procure the services of a qualified Town Attorney, pursuant to the provisions of §15.2-1542 of the Code of Virginia, as amended. The individual serving as Town Attorney serves at the pleasure of the Town Council and works at the direction and under the general oversight of the Mayor and members of the Town Council to provide legal counsel, advice and assistance with preparation of Ordinances, contracts, correspondence and other documentation necessary for the governance of the Town of Stanardsville. The Town Attorney shall be expected to perform the duties found in §15.2-1542 of the Code of Virginia, including those duties otherwise performed by the Attorney for the Commonwealth, and will also attend regular meetings of the Town Council and provide advice to other officers and Boards appointed by the Town Council. Qualified applicants shall possess a juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school, have experience as a practicing attorney in local government law in Virginia, be a member of the Virginia State Bar licensed to practice law in Virginia, and be admitted to practice in all Virginia State Courts.
