Stanardsville’s traditional Fourth of July Parade will be greatly expanded this year as organizers plan an elaborate Independence Day Celebration, with far more food vendors, performers, games and family-fun activities than ever before. The parade down Main Street will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, and celebration activities will continue immediately after the parade in and around Courthouse Square.
In addition to the usual post-parade program, with the Pledge of Allegiance, singing of patriotic songs and reading of the Declaration of Independence, there will be musical performers, a Civil War camp re-enactment, music by a radio DJ, bouncy houses, a dunking booth, and many games, contests and other family-oriented entertainment.
Organizers emphasize that this Independence Day parade and festival will benefit local charities. Proceeds from vendor sales and other activities will go to support churches, youth-oriented groups, and other nonprofits in the county,
Registration forms to participate in the Parade may be picked up and dropped off at Noon Whistle Pottery in Stanardsville and at the Greene County Visitors Center in Ruckersville. Forms can also be obtained by sending a request by email. Deadline for registering is June 29.
